Mike's personal touch made this an even better tour than just all the history involved. It may have taken a few months for me to get this comment posted, but the memory is still fresh. We went on the Third Reich Tour and were really impressed with the quality of the guide. Not only did we see areas of Berlin we would not have otherwise seen, we were given a historical narrative that showed the guide's massive knowledge on the subject, which meant questions were easily answered and information was presented in a manner that allowed us to really visualise the history of each site we visited. The tour was so good, we decided to do the Famous Tour the next day - and were pleased to find Kenny as our guide for a second time in two days!

Derek was our guide in Sachsenhausen and in the Famous Insider Walk, two days in a row! What a luck to be guided by this guy! Nice, knowledgeable, full of nice histories and ways to pass it forward. His position as a foreigner allowed him to touch the most controversial subjects with skill, without offending or violating history. Charismatic guy as well. Highly recommended, and he looks funny in the mornings so that you can laugh!

On my return trip with Tom, this was our first tour. The weather was lousy, but the guide was 'Dynamo' Mike - what could be more perfect for the Cold War tour? A fascinating tour that expanded significantly upon life in Berlin during the Cold War years. I suspect that this period in Berlin's history is little understood by most outsiders. It was a remarkable experience to learn more and better appreciate the events of the past and the difficulties of the recent times, where re-unification is very much an organic process rather than the mechanical operation many might have envisaged.
Another great tour that, for the receptive listener, paints a thought provoking picture of the strengths and weaknesses of both communism and capitalism.

Having visited Berlin only days before, Cathy and I felt it essential that our son Tom (studying A Level history) should experience the place under the careful tutelage of the Insider Guides. I was interested to see the tour again under a different guide and Kenny didn't disappoint, providing a subtly different perspective to Mike. The core information remains the same, but each guide likes to modify the focus on different elements. Well worth doing again for me and for Tom a great way to become immersed in his studies.

From my first impression..I knew it was going to be a memorable event. Nigel is no shrinking violet and what a laugh. He puts everyone at ease and delivers a first rate narrative. His subject knowledge seems endless and its clear he is very capable historian. His tour was conducted with pure professionalsim . compassion and great respect for all. First class. Go on any of the tours and you will be given an experience well worth the money but ...worth far more that that!.

First class delivery from a man who not only has the knowledge but the passion to deliver it. Not forgetting a great sense of humour as well. Having an interest is 20th centuray history myself Mike's finite knowledge of this period and his ability to explain any questions put to him left me wanting to repeat this experience...so I did.Insider tours use guides who have high level academic knowledge of what they are talking about. Highly recommended . Also for the Third Reich Tour as well!

Fuimos de visita al campo de Sachenhausen con Iñaki (guía). Demostró un amplio conocimiento de las instalaciones del campo, así como de la historia de Berlín. Gracias a él la recordaremos la excursión como lo mejor de nuestro viaje a Berlín y profundizaremos en su estudio. Recomendaba películas y libros para apoyar la explicación. Daba sentido común a sus explicaciones teniendo en cuenta la situación de todos los sujetos del intervinientes en la tragedia, tanto prisioneros como miembros de las SS. Por otra parte, sus consejos no se limitaron a la excursión contratada y nos fueron de gran ayuda en el resto de nuestro viaje. Desde aquí le envío un saludo. Muy recomendable.

The best tour ever. What a difference a good and enthusiastic guide can make. I just had one day in Berlin, and being passionate about history, I was lucky to get Mike as a guide. History and information made palatable during a 4 hour walk. Time just passed by. Congratulations.
